Tess Kelly is a Senior State Engagement Manager at Recidiviz. She began her career as an attorney in Australia, advocating for children in detention and addressing the over-representation of First Nations people in the criminal justice system. Before joining Recidiviz, she was a Senior Associate at the Correctional Association of New York (CANY), a nonprofit providing civilian oversight of state prisons. Tess holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University. Outside her role at Recidiviz, Tess pursues multidisciplinary research on the health of people in the criminal justice system, with a particular focus on children. We combine the efficiency of a tech company with the heart of a non-profit. Recidiviz began as a volunteer project at Google and has since grown into one of the brightest, kindest teams that civic tech has to offer. Our north star: safely and fairly shrinking the criminal justice system.
