This month’s updates to the Recidiviz Corrections Platform, driven by insights and feedback from our partner agencies. Feature suggestions? Email feedback@recidiviz.org
Missouri Sentencing Assessment Reports
- New SAR Builder Tool: Missouri is now our third sentencing partner state with the launch of the new Sentencing Assessment Report (SAR) builder tailored to its requirements. Probation and parole officers can create, edit, and manage SARs directly in the Recidiviz platform—replacing what was previously a manual, paper-heavy process.
- Structured Data Entry with Autosave: The SAR builder walks staff through each section of the report—charges, criminal history, substance use history, risk assessment scores, employment, defendant and victim statements, and sentencing recommendations—with robust autosave so no work is lost. Fields are pre-populated with available data to minimize duplicate entry.
- New Report Insights: Staff can document mitigating factors, needs to be addressed, community strategy recommendations, and institutional strategy recommendations, giving judges a complete and structured picture of the individual at sentencing.
Case Planning Assessments on Tablets
- Resident-Completed Assessments with Wanda: Residents can now complete case planning assessments directly on their tablet by chatting with Wanda, our AI-powered chatbot, at their own pace and in their own words. Early results show residents providing longer, more detailed responses when they can draft answers without time pressure or direct staff oversight—giving case managers a richer picture of each individual's needs, goals, and circumstances.
- Outputs That Map to Existing Workflows: Each completed assessment generates a structured summary aligned to the fields staff already use in their OMS, including suggested Success Plan entries, immediate priorities, and conversation topics. Staff can review the output and pull it directly into their case management workflow, reducing the time between assessment and action.
Faster Search and Data Export
- Search by DOC ID: Staff can now search for clients and residents by DOC ID in addition to name across the Supervision and Facilities Assistants. This was one of our most-requested features, particularly in states where staff are more familiar with ID numbers than names.
- CSV Export: A new download button at the top of the Assistant’s table view lets staff export the current tab's data as a CSV file—making it easy to pull lists for reporting, audits, or offline review without needing keyboard shortcuts or workarounds.
