Josh Gordon is Recidiviz’s communications director. Formerly, he led communications for the Vera Institute of Justice’s Restoring Promise initiative, which creates housing units grounded in dignity for young adults in prison. In this role, he elevated stories focused on improving corrections culture, prioritizing safety, and supporting incarcerated people. Previously, Josh advanced and shaped conversations around today’s most urgent issues—criminal justice reform, gender equity, and public interest technology— via BerlinRosen’s issue advocacy practice. Prior to BerlinRosen, he directed communications for the National Juvenile Justice Network. Josh holds a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations. In his free time, he enjoys searching for new podcasts, watching cute Tik Tok pets, and traveling.
A diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is essential to our mission. People come to Recidiviz to contribute to an urgent cause, and to work alongside incredible coworkers who care as much as they do. To ensure that we’re building intentional products and amplifying the work of others in the reform ecosystem, we are committed to fostering a diverse team that reflects the people we serve.
We combine the efficiency of a tech company with the heart of a non-profit. Recidiviz began as a volunteer project at Google and has since grown into one of the brightest, kindest teams that civic tech has to offer. Our north star: safely and fairly shrinking the criminal justice system.
